The Oak Cliff Documentary

Mission Statement: The Oak Cliff Documentary will use photography and videography to document the history, culture, and social issues of the Oak Cliff neighborhood.

Vision Statement: To uplift the Oak Cliff community by documenting the stories of its residents through interviews, photography, and videography.

The Oak Cliff Documentary project unofficially started in the fall of 2015 with area photojournalist, Elroy Johnson. He began taking photos of his family’s neighborhood. He later launched the series in 2016 as a documentary style black and white photo series focusing on the history, culture, and social issues of the neighborhood. The series now includes audio and video interviews to tell the stories of the largest neighborhood in Dallas. The Oak Cliff Documentary continues to document area residents, community events, and the architecture of the area.
